Project software

For this project you will need to make some images from FITS files.

To do this, use one of two softwares:

Preferred: Common Astronomy Software Applications (CASA) software package.  Use this link to download and install CASA on Linux or MacOS-based systems.

Also fine: DS9 (fewer image analysis functions and less utilized by radio astronomers). Can be used on Windows systems. Use this link to download and install DS9. Here is a basic ds9 tutorial.

Project data

Here is the data for project 2:

CASA users guide/ "cookbook":
This can help you if you get stuck in any CASA analysis.

CASA tutorials:
You will likely not need these for this project, but here you can find some data analysis tutorials for particular radio astronomy analysis tasks. If you get stuck on basic CASA interactions, you can see these tutorials as an example of how CASA interacts with the user.
